Fitness hula hooping is a great way to lose weight and have fun. Our hula hoops are weighted- unlike hoop purchased at department stores- and have friction tape for gripping. Did you know you can hula hoop on your neck, shoulders, waist, thighs, knees, and even above your head? Hula hooping is a full body workout for both females and males. You can purchase a custom made hula hoop from us and we will make sure it fits your body type and size. You can even choose the weight of your hoop to meet the needs of your workout. Hooping can be done anywhere you have a little space and is perfect for the living room or in the back yard on a nice day.
Belly Dancing, or middle eastern dance, is perfect for toning your body and utilizing every muscle in different ways than your typical workout. The music that accompanies our belly dance workout involves world drums and high energy rhythms to keep you motivated and interested. Belly Dance is a great way to tone your abs and lose weight in your thighs. Belly Dance is a fun and very beautiful dance that will take your femininity to a new level. Belly Dance props such as veil, wings, cane, and fans add spice to your workout to where you wont even notice your working your muscles at 400 calories an hour.
Poi spinning involves the spinning of a ball on a chain- typically we use 2 (one held in each hand)- in a variety of patterns and planes around the body. Poi originated in New Zealand and this spinning art is one of the most notable for fire dancers in the US. Poi spinning not only works every muscle in the body, but also relaxes the mind and is great to relieve stress. Poi is not very well known in Memphis and we are the only dance company to offer poi in beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.
Want to learn all 3? Combine techniques from all of our unique classes into one customized class. The Dancing Fire offers private lessons held in 30 minute increments of your choice: 30, 60, 90, or 120 minutes. We also offer semi-private and group lessons. Workshops are a great way to jump start your workout on a busy schedule. Workshops typically run an hour and a half to 2 hours and you learn all the basics to get you started. Grab some friends and schedule a workshop or semi private class and see what these unique exercises are all about!
No need to worry about bringing equipment. The Dancing Fire provides practice hula hoops, poi, and belly dance accessories to get you started. Of course you will probably want to purchase your own and our boutique has just about everything.
